Buyer questions

Bubble Tea Straw FAQs

Are these bubble tea straws food-safe?

Yes. The straws are made from SUS304 stainless steel — a food-contact grade material — and our production is FDA and LFGB compliant. Test reports are available: contact us and we'll send the certificates.

Why does my new stainless steel straw taste like metal?

A slight metallic taste on new straws is normal. It comes from manufacturing residues, not a quality defect. To remove it: 1) soak in warm water with baking soda for 30 minutes and brush inside and out; 2) rinse, then soak in diluted white vinegar water for 20 minutes; 3) boil for 3–5 minutes and let air-dry. If a strong smell remains after cleaning, contact us.

Do stainless steel straws rust?

Not with normal use. 304 stainless resists corrosion well — just avoid leaving the straw soaked in vinegar, juice or other acidic drinks for long periods, and let it dry after washing. If you ever spot rust, contact us.

Can I use metal straws with hot drinks?

We don't recommend it. Steel conducts heat quickly, so a very hot drink can make the straw hot enough to scald your mouth. Keep drinks at 40 °C (104 °F) or below.

Will the straw tip scratch my mouth?

No. The wall is 0.5 mm thick and every tip is polished smooth after cutting, so the edges are rounded and comfortable in normal use.

Which straw diameter fits boba pearls?

The 12 mm bore of this straw is made for pearl milk tea and smoothies. We also produce 6 mm and 8 mm straws for juice, milk and water.

How do I clean the inside of such a narrow straw?

Every order ships with dedicated cleaning brushes. Each brush is 23 cm long — slightly longer than the 21.5 cm straw, so it passes from the top straight through to the bottom — and its 15 mm head is deliberately a touch wider than the 12 mm bore, so the bristles press firmly against the inner wall and scrub it thoroughly. See our straw cleaning brushes for sizes and bulk pricing.

Why reusable steel

Steel vs Plastic Boba Straws

Cost per serving. A 304 stainless straw is washed and reused for years, while PP straws are bought, used and binned once — reusable steel drives the cost of every serving down for high-volume tea shops.
Single-use plastic rules. EU and Canadian single-use plastic bans keep tightening. Serving boba through reusable steel keeps your menu ahead of regulation — no levy, no forced menu change.
Brand presentation. PVD colours from gold to rainbow plus your laser-etched logo turn a straw into part of the in-store experience — something a clear plastic straw can never do.
Cleaning is solved. Dishwasher-safe, and every order ships with dedicated cleaning brushes sized to scrub the full bore.
